The Whanganui District Council's infrastructure general manager, Mark Hughes, is again caretaker head of Whanganui & Partners.

The district's economic development agency was rocked last week by the resignation of general manager Philippa Ivory just seven months into the job.

Originally it was said Ivory would finish on September 14 but the council has confirmed Ivory has gone after it was "mutually agreed" she could bring forward her leaving date.

"Mark Hughes will be the acting general manager of Whanganui & Partners until such time as a new general manager is appointed," the council sai.

Hughes acted in the role from November 2017 until Ivory's arrival in January after previous general manager Adrian Dixon resigned.
