Whanganui strikes a pose at NABBA

It was another NABBA NZ National Bodybuilding Championships where Whanganui punched well above its weight in Napier last Sunday

The 27th edition of the nationals at the Napier Municipal Theatre saw eight locals competing, representing the Revitalise, Inspire and City Gyms.

Seven of them would place in their divisions.

City Gyms' Jan Dixon continued her outstanding run in regional and national events alike by winning the Open Short Physique title.

Dixon continues to peak at the right time as she will leave in a fortnight to defend her Natural Miss Olympia title in Las Vegas.

It was a good evening for the Revitalise crew under Audrey O'Keefe, led by Daniel Foulkes winning the Novice Short Physique crown.

"He stole the whole show," said O'Keefe.

"He then went up against the overall [winners], the Mr New Zealand's, and he certainly gave them a run for their money."

After winning a raft of provincial titles in 2016, Alison Richards came second in the Physique 50+, while Kirsty Harvey was third in the Women's Physique 40+.

Maureen Thomas came third in the Open Figure Short, while Mark Kaipo (Men's Athletic) and Krista Adams (Novice Short Figure) also did well in their grades.
