The Waverley Golf Club men's team continues to punch above their weight after they won the Taranaki Men's Handicap Pennant for the second time in four years on Sunday.
Qualifying for their third semifinal in four years at the Te Ngutu Golf Club in Normanby on Sunday, Waverley held offInglewood 2 in the morning by 5-4.
John Boon and Rob Amon won their single games, while Warren (Wazza) Pope and Nigel Alexander shared their games for a 3-3 tie.
In the three Fourball matchups, Boon and Pope were victorious 6-5, while Amon and Alexander won 2-1 to get Waverley over the line.
The final was against Manukorihi, who accounted for the unbeaten Eltham in the other semifinal, and again it was a hotly contested affair with Waverley winning the title 5-4.
Boon, Alexander and Davendar Singh won their singles games, so again the winner would be found in the Fourball.
Boon and Pope won 1up, while Amon and Alexander took out their game 3-2.
"Having been narrowly beaten in last year's final this was a very satisfying win for the club, and the players were well supported by club members who also caddied for the day," said Pope.
