Watts strikes gold on Karapiro

Aramoho-Wanganui Rowing club returned from the North Island Club Championships with six medals from seven A finals.

In Saturday's racing on Lake Karapiro, Luke Watts won the mens senior single sculls with club mate Hugh Pawson in 5th.

Watts and Pawson then combined for silver in the double sculls event which was won by club mates Nathan Luff and James Sandston.

Together all four won the mens senior coxless quad sculls.

The club's coxed four of James Sandston (stroke), Ben Tijsen-Cox, Guy Thomson, Cameron Lawrence and Niamh Mullany (cox) also won their A final.

Aramoho-Wanganui's mens club coxless quad sculls team of Nathan Luff (stroke), Ben Tijsen-Cox, Guy Thomson, Cameron Lawrence claimed silver.

Wanganui Collegiate picked up two A final podium finishes in the Cambridge Town Cup also held at Lake Karapiro over the weekend.

The school's under-16 coxed eight and under-17 coxed eight won silver and bronze, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Wanganui Rowing Championships will be held on the Whanganui River 2000m course this Saturday.

The regatta will also include some Masters events as a warm up for the World Masters Games which are in Auckland in April.
