Two iconic Wanganui teams of the Southern Trust New Zealand Masters Games netball module walked away with gold from Laird Park yesterday afternoon.
Spring Chicks - previous back-to-back winners of the 30+ grade at the Wanganui games - would take out the 40+ gold, the largest grade, by beating theUpper/Lower Hutt combination Nine Old Ladies team in the final, with Palmerston North's Renegades third.
And the 35+ Social grade was won by the Wellington offshoot of the Wanganui family team Rel8dnsumway, to go with the silver their combined team had already claimed in the mixed competition.
Rel8dnsumway beat Palmerston North's Walkabout Pink Ladies in the 35+ final, with another Manawatu team, College Old Girls Masters third.
The mixed grade was won by another Wanganui family team in Ka Ora, with fellow locals Misfits in third.
Another Wanganui team the Tumble Weeds received the Give It A Go prize.
In 30+, Taranaki's Tysons Force beat Palmerston North's Rebels in the final, with Ruapehu getting the bronze.
Wellington's Diehards won the 35+ competitive grade, beating Carterton/Masterton team Southern Belles II in the final, while Wanganui's Epic were third.
