Wanganui East club members went out in the early stages of the New Zealand Petanque Singles championships but did better in the lower grades at the weekend.
Pete "The Pieman" Hamilton, Christine Strichen and Richard Turfrey attended the championships in Christchurch.
Hamilton was 11th qualifier after day one for thetrophy.
However, with only one win in barrage on Sunday morning, he dropped down to the Trophy Consolation, where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Masterton's Claire Wilson, to finish in a share of fifth place for that division.
Strichen and Turfrey failed to qualify on day one. However, Strichen produced better form on Sunday to be runner-up in the consolante tournament, behind Christchurch's Mark Richardson, while Turfrey was seventh among the 18 in that grade.
