The first day of competition consisted of the senior men's and women's (17 years and over), and the junior men's and women's (15-20 years) divisions. City College spokesman Garry Davies said, while waiting for their turns, the City College team got the chance to watch some of New Zealand's five medallists from the Commonwealth Games.
Kinchella would claim bronze in the senior men's under 60kg division, while Brown took bronze in both the senior and junior men's under 66kg.
Antione Rahier again did double duty and earned silver medals in the senior and junior men's under 60kg.
Brown and Kinchella then backed up the next day for the cadet (15-17 years) events, where as well as Brown's gold, Kinchella won bronze in the under 60kg division.
As well as the competitors, it was an important weekend for Wanganui's judo referee Diane Limbrey.
Limbrey used the nationals as a warm-up for when she joins the three other Kiwi referees who will officiate at the Oceania Judo Open, being held in Wollongong, Australia on November 14-15.
Limbrey said it will be the largest judo event for 2014 in the Oceania region and has attracted competitors from around the world looking to get qualifying points for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
