Highly ranked New Zealander Leela Beattie franked her favouritism to easily win the Wanganui Tennis Club's senior women's title at the weekend.
The 21-year-old - the No5 female in New Zealand - beat the talented Paris Butters 9-0 in the final on Sunday.
With rain threatening, but not arriving, allgames were best of nine.
In fact, both semifinals also ended 9-0 with Paris Butters beating Helen Russell and Beattie dispatching Tara Butters.
Beattie, who arrived in Wanganui almost two years ago to coach at Wanganui Collegiate School, has been a key player in the Wanganui Christie Cup team that has won the trophy the last three seasons on end.
Beattie has been a part of the Christie Cup team for the past two seasons.
The singles title came in her debut season in the Wanganui club women's championship.
Beattie was sent out a strong favourite for the women's title on the strength of her high ranking and winning the Tennis Central Female Player of the Year this season. It was one of two titles for Wanganui members with Neville Hopkins being named Tennis Central Volunteer of the Year.
