"They have both listened and taken on board what has been said to them and now the team is paying dividends.
"Both these girls have worked hard lately to gel together and form what I believe will be a great attacking asset to the team, and all in such a short period of time too.
"I am truly excited for the girls going into our final tournament and the build up to get here has been spectacular," she said.
The team face Auckland 1, Hamilton and Rotorua in Pool A this weekend at the North Island tournament which will set a new challenge, having never played any of them before.
The U-15 White team played in their last tournament for the rep season in Hawke's Bay.
The team lost their games against the Hawke's Bay teams and against the Wanganui U-15 Blue, but showed true grits and determination, having a good, solid game against Wairarapa and winning 29-17. The team finished fourth overall, with Ella Towers and Kaewa Potaka named in the tournament team.
The U-17s won two, lost two on Sunday. Against Horowhenua they (lost 26-27, HB Invitational 1 (won 31-21), Manawatu (lost 35-17) and HB Invitational 2 (won 23-17). Coach Parekura Muraahi remained positive and pleased with the growth of her team noting, that successful journeys require steps in all directions and sometimes what seems a little step back is merely a way to propel yourself forward.
"They're a fantastic bunch of girls with huge potential and there was still plenty to celebrate and learn from on the weekend," she said.
The year 7 girls, at the Molly Dorne Tournament in Levin, proved again they deserve to be at these tournaments, mixing it with the best of their age group.
The Molly Dorne tournament was made up of two pools and cross-over finals.
The first game with Manawatu proved to be a great match-up and a tight game, with Manawatu winning 16-14.
Taranaki were going to be even harder and always appeared to be the team to beat. Wanganui concentrated on hard defence, which kept the score low, finally losing 8-4.
Wanganui's next match was against Wellington West. After two losses the girls had to dig deep to stay positive and with strong combination they won 14-12. The girls went into the cross-overs second pool semifinal against Kapiti. It proved a tremendous game, Wanganui levelling the score 11-11 at the full-time whistle.
But in the tie-breaker Kapiti were able to take the honours, winning 13-11. Wanganui's final game was for third and fourth in their cross-over pool. They faced Wellington West again and won 13-11.
Player of the day for Wanganui Year 7s went to Mattea Ale who enjoyed an outstanding tournament. Player of the day for the Steffensen Cup held a couple of weeks ago went to Hinerangi Ratana.
The girls are looking forward to their next tournament in Palmerston North for the intermediate champs on July 12-13.
The year 8 girls played some outstanding netball on Sunday in Levin, and the results did not reflect their final placing.
In the first pool game against Manawatu, the girls jumped to the lead early and maintained that throughout to win 21-14.
In the next, Northern Suburbs came back in the second half after Wanganui had an eight-goal advantage going into the break, however the girls kept their cool and managed a 21-18 win.
A win to Motu Kairangi 22-13 saw Wanganui at the top of their pool and facing Taranaki in the semis. The girls played a great game but posted their only loss of the day, 16-14, to Taranaki. Wanganui then beat Manawatu 17-16 in the play-off for third and fourth.
