The Wanganui Open Triples Bowls competition produced contrasting results for both men and women at the weekend.
The Jane Winstone-sponsored event got off to a delayed start because of the rain on Saturday, but was completed at the Wanganui Bowling Club on Sunday.
A high standard of bowls was theorder of the day in both the men and women's competition.
The final between Eileen Geddes (s), Dot Belliss and Cynthia Adams (Wanganui) and Sonia Wooding (s), Carol Morpeth and Tiny Maniapoto (Wanganui) went to an extra end to decide the outcome with Geddes' team 19/15.
The men's game on the other hand was in dark contrast.
While Peter Clark (s), John McCall and Gene Ridgway (Wanganui East) began well enough the power play of Clint Park (s), Ray Park and Alan Dickson (Wanganui) proved just too strong and it was game over after 16 ends.
Newcomers to the game (under 8 years of play) McCall and Ridgway were far from disgraced and with further experience will be a force to be reckoned with.
