The racing is all go today for the Ron Bisset Memorial Duathlon and Multisport event around the Whanganui Multisport clubrooms on Anzac Parade.

Despite the heavy rainfall prior to the event, organisers will still go ahead with the three duathlon events and make a decision today if the multisport race including its 5km kayaking leg to the finish is held in full.

Club spokeswoman Melina Holmes said the 2pm races will be at low tide, but they may alter some of the running legs with the number of laps around Kowhai Park.

Unlike the other multisport races held around the clubrooms, the Ron Bisset race will finish with the 5km kayaking leg after the 20km cycle and 5km run.

Holmes said this allows those doing the full event to still race alongside friends in the duathlon before transitioning to their own specialist stage.

"There has been discussion about changing the order, but we can't do it this year because you need to give the multisporters notice ahead of time."

The Kids Duathlon will consist of a 4km cycle bracketed by starting and finishing 1km runs.

Adult duathlons follow the same format, the short distance being a 2.5km start run, 10km cycle, and a 1.25km short run.

The long distance course is 5km run, 20km cycle and 2.5km run.

The full multisport race event will be the 5km run, 20km cycle and 5km kayak to finish.
