American basketball coach Avi Meyerson will be back in town this week to help both players and coaches alike from all codes develop their own winning formulas.
The Melbourne-based Meyerson is the guest of Akiwi Event's Paul Berridge and will be leading a seminar tonight at the YMCA Community Centrecalled 'Building a Championship Culture', which is pitched at all team managers and coaches whatever their sport.
"It's going to be quite beneficial for a lot of people that will turn up," said Berridge.
"Really detailed, he's got the audience engagement there, when he speaks.
"The intensity - I haven't come across that in a long time in basketball."
After that, Meyerson will join the staff from the Impact Basketball NZ development organisation in running another camp at Springvale Stadium.
The training is aimed at basketball players aged 11-19.
Educated at Washington State University, Meyerson has been an NCAA coach and an NBA talent scout, having helped train many elite athletes in their off-seasons to get them ready for the top professional levels.
