Nominations close this Friday for the 2016 Ray White Whanganui Sports Awards.
Covering the period of October 2015 through to September 30 this year, there are eleven categories for national and international sportspersons, masters, teams and coaches among others for the 53rd annual event.
The judging panel will sit downon October 19 to sort through the list of nominees to pick the winners as well as an overall Supreme Award winner.
Anyone from the Whanganui, Rangitikei and Ruapehu sport communities can have their name put forward.
Winners will be announced on November 18 at the Eulogy Lounge at the Wanganui Racecourse, with tickets to the buffet dinner going on sale this Monday, October 10.
Organisers Sport Whanganui have also announced this year's MC for the awards will be television personality James McOnie of The Crowd Goes Wild fame.
The night will also see the annual induction of members into the Whanganui Sports Hall of Fame as well as those joining the Sport Whanganui Roll of Honour, which recognises volunteers who have contributed 25-plus years of service to the region's sports.
Sport Whanganui would like to top the 70 award nominations in 2015, who were recognised by 380 guests on awards night.
"These awards recognise exceptional performances and contribution to sport," said CEO Danny Jonas.
"This is an opportunity to showcase the stunning sporting talent in our region and celebrate these successes as a community.
