Three of the Wanganui region bowls teams that competed at last week's BNZ Regional Club Championships are off to the national finals.

Held in Levin, this region's interclub champions in their sections were taking on the various winners from the Kapiti Coast, Wellington and Taranaki regions.

Wanganui BC's Clint and Ray Park won the men's pairs section, while also teaming with Ray Savage to win the men's triples.

In the pairs, the Parks came back from dropping their first game to comfortable wins in their next two, finishing on four points and with a larger differential than the Paritutu and Tawa teams.

It was the other way around in the triples as Wanganui BC won their first two matches but lost the third, carrying the day through a better differential than Central Levin.

In the fours, the Aramoho BC team of Elizabeth Anderson, Maxine Rowatt, Ruth White, Lelaine Brown were victorious, winning their first and third games and getting through on differential from Paritutu.

The singles events saw Aramoho's Garry Petersen finish in a three-way tie for second in the men's behind the West End representative, while in the women's singles, Wanganui's Dianne Patterson finished behind the Naenae player and the winning Paraparaumu Beach representative.

Patterson also teamed with Pam Burgess in the women's pairs, finishing behind Johnsonville and the winners from Paraparaumu Beach.

Wanganui East BC was represented in the women's triples by Diane Martin, Robin Evans and Lorraine Ridgeway, who did not play their last match as the title was decided between Island Bay and the winning Lepperton team.

Aramoho contested the men's fours, as Peter Belliss, Keith Slight, Kevin Coombe and John Belliss had a win and a draw to finish behind the victorious Petone Central team.

In the 2-4-2 mixed pairs, Aramoho's Selwyn and Syria Prescott did not play their last game as the Paritutu team were already comfortable winners.
