Three time world jiu jitsu champion Joao Moura will bring his special Brazilian technique to a one-off training seminar in Whanganui next week.
Moura is an expert in the Brazalian form of the martial art basically designed to enable smaller framed athletes to grapple successfully with far larger opponents.
JoBurke of Gracie Gym Wanganui said as far as she was aware Moura was only imparting his knowledge at Gracie Gym Wellington and the River City affiliated organisation during his New Zealand visit.
"It was too good an opportunity to miss and we have purposely kept costs down to a minimum because it is just after Christmas and everyone would have spent up large," Burke said yesterday.
"Joao Moura is small framed like I am, so it will be interesting to see what he brings, but he is a three time world champion.
"We have two sessions starting with one for the kids between 11.30am and 12.40am for $20 and the second between 2pm and 5pm for adults for $40."
Anyone keen on joining the seminars on Saturday next week (January 21) can register through the Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gym at the Mixed Martial Arts Centre in Wicksteed St or visit the gym's facebook page.
