WHANGANUI tennis ace and Georgia Tech sophomore Paige Hourigan has been named ACC co-female Player of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced last Tuesday.

Hourigan was named co-female Player of the Week after her role in Georgia Tech's 4-3 win over the Duke University, the 8th ranked women's team in the ACC.

The sophomore from Turakina won all of her matches during the week.

In singles, Hourigan defeated No 39 Whitney Kay of North Carolina, and Duke University's Kaitlyn McCarthy.

Hourigan then partnered with teammate Kendal Woodward in the doubles to earn wins over the top-ranked doubles pair of Kay and Hayley Carter of North Carolina, as well as Duke's tandem of McCarthy and Samantha Harris. Hourigan and Woodward were the 13th-ranked women's duo.

Hourigan has amassed a record of 14-5 in dual matches this season, including 10-2 at No.2 singles and 11-2 in conference play. In doubles, Hourigan and Woodward have a 17-2 record in dual matches and are ranked 10th nationally. She is currently ranked as the No41 singles player in the country.

Hourigan's mentor and Georgia Tech's head tennis coach Rodney Harmon has been named the ACC Coach of the Year. Teammate Johnnise Renaud was named First Team All-ACC, while Hourigan was named to the third team.
