The Wanganui Academy men's and women's teams to play in a invitation tournament in Feilding this weekend have been named.
As the development squads for Bowls Wanganui, the two squads will play their opposites from Manawatu, Kapiti Coast, and Wairarapa at the Johnson Park Bowling Club.
Coached by Chris Waterson, the women's team is in good form, having come second on points differential against Taranaki, Wellington and Wairarapa after the Wanganui tournament last weekend.
Only one change has been made to that squad with Tania George coming into the fours.
However, the men were not as successful in their draw, while four members are not available for the weekend, leading to several changes. Colin Wright moves from the fours to be the singles player, while Kelvin Francis and Les Murcott are the new pairs team, and three different players join Desmond Pirere in the fours.
Manager Mike Morgan said the tournament is preparation for the Intercentre Under 8's tournament to be held in April.
-The academy teams are:
Men - Singles: Colin Wright; Pairs: Kelvin Francis (s), Les Murcott; Fours: Kevin Willis (s), Desmond Pirere, Dave Gunn, Ken Smith. Selector: Lindsay Wheeler; Manager: Mike Morgan.
