The heat is on the youngsters with the running of the third annual Ruapehu Kids' Buster hosted at the Waimarino A & P Show at the Raetihi Showgrounds on Saturday.
The event, run by Sport Whanganui, is open to Year 3 to 8 Ruapehu primary school childrenand designed to get kids off the couch and into the outdoors to be active.
"The Ruapehu Kids' Buster is an action-packed day aimed at getting Ruapehu kids out and participating in fun sporting activities. It's a great forerunner for the Waimarino Tough Kid event we have coming up in June, giving kids the chance to get in some practise," Sport Whanganui's regions sport adviser Marie Kinloch said.
The challenge includes the slip and slide, hay climb, icy polar dip and many more awesome obstacles between 9am and 12.15pm on Saturday. Three teams will compete with each other at the same time, completing the 11 challenges within a 20-minute timeframe. All teams will be timed, with the fastest team taking out the Kids' Buster School Challenge.
