The open class 520m greyhounds make a welcome to return to Hatrick this evening where a competitive field will contest the Race 10 Wanganui Toyota event (8.22pm).

Appropriately the field is dominated by the leading three trainers in the Central Districts region.

Lisa Ahern has accepted with three chasers with the out-and-out railer Flying Markel leading her charge.

He has secured the one-trap draw from where he can further enhance his super stats from.

He has carried the red racing vest to victory on seven occasions from the eight times he has worn it (placed the other time).

That fact alone says Flying Markel commands absolute respect this evening.

The Group 1 placed Sheer Miss is making her open class racing debut for Ahern.

She has been provided with the tricky five-trap to do so following her easy pace-making 30.18s C4 520m win last Friday.

Completing the Ahern representation here is Absinthe Minded.

He is a better chaser than what his current form line indicates and he can provide a degree of cheek after stepping from trap-three here.

Matt Roberts is unleashing a three-prong Cawbourne assault on this race.

Spearheading his charge is last Sunday's bold Manukau 527m Auckland Derby winner Cawbourne Cooks.

He is in current career best form which has been aided by the pace-making tactics he has been employing. Expect him to use that healthy tactic this evening.

Cawbourne Brick inexplicably weakened during the run home over 527m at Manukau last Sunday.

The business end of his races is normally the strong part of his races, while a concern for him here is this noted railer drawing out in the eight-trap.

The promising Cawbourne Clover is facing a steep rise in class for this assignment after stylishly winning her C2/3 520m outing in the meet best 520m time of 30.12s last Friday.

Angela Turnwald provides the balance of the field, including both reserves.

Her Group 1 winning girl Miss Eldora has drawn (trap-two) to strongly make her presence felt.

She led throughout when delivering that victory and she must do likewise here to claim a stake.

While Hawkesbury Fever is a promising up and coming chaser, he is also facing a class rise here after delivering competitive recent C4 520m efforts.

First reserve Fall From Grace is also currently C4 graded, while second reserve Docker claimed his first Kiwi race win when he took out a Manawatu C3/4 457m event on Monday.
