The Huntley School 1st X1 will head to the national finals of the Active Post Cricket Cup with an unbeaten record this season.

The Marton-based primary school that caters for Year 3 to Year 8 students will represent the Central Region at the national finals at the cricket high performance centre at Lincoln University in Christchurch over three days, starting November 23.

Huntley headmaster Sam Edwards said the 1st X1 won both the semifinal and final of the Central region competition in Palmerston North on Tuesday.

"We beat Taranaki in the semifinal and then our old rivals Hereworth School [Hawke's Bay] in the final.

"The boys played really well and in fact are unbeaten this season, including a comprehensive win over a Year 9 team from Wanganui Collegiate this year," Edwards said.
