They're building the houses, and the flatmates have all signed the lease.
Representatives from five groups gathered at Rangitikei College recently to sign the Memorandum of Understanding for their use of the multisport playing facility being built at the school, as well as the full-sized water hockey turf at NgaTawa Diocesan School.
Both projects were each granted $100,000 by the Rangitikei District Council and both facilities, when completed, will be available for use by the wider community.
Signing the memorandum were Rangitikei College, Nga Tawa, Sport Whanganui, Rangitikei Hockey and the council.
Liz Rayner, editor of the Rangitikei District Monitor, sign the document outlines what each party brings to the partnership around the two facilities, "along with commitments, roles and responsibilities that they have already agreed".
"It includes how the facilities will be used by schools, the community, health and safety risks, management and booking system, maintenance and more."
Construction is underway at the Rangitikei College site, with turf due to be laid this week. Roger Dalrymple, of Nga Tawa's board of proprietors, said they had three major fundraisers in February with the goal of generating funds for the hockey ground.
The board plans to apply for grants in the second half of 2017, with the goal of beginning construction in early 2018.
