Manawatu had the best team and the best shooter but hosts Wanganui did not leave their Okoia range empty-handed at the annual Teams of Ten smallbore competition on Saturday.
Amongst the sixteen provincial teams from 11 North Island small associations, the Manawatu No1 team held on to the Rees Scrolltrophy as Division 1 winners, with their combined score of 3927.224 being comfortably ahead of Wellington No1 (3913.207).
Meanwhile, the Wanganui team claimed the Jim Hart Trophy as Division 2 winners for the first time since 2010, with their 3850.150 score also comfortably ahead of Hawke's Bay (3830.148).
Top Shooter on the day was Manawatu's Janet Hunt, who made 399.31 out of a possible 400.40 perfect score.
Target Wanganui secretary Paul Turner said Hunt made a 100.10 on one of her targets, the maximum score possible.
Best of the home shooters was Paul Lissington with 391.16.
As hosts this year, Turner said he was delighted with the feedback from the others as the day ran almost like clockwork.
There was a slight hiccup in the morning as there was a power outage at the Okoia range, but a member of the Manawatu team was an electrician and was able to make a temporary repair until the problem was fixed, with shooting only running ten minutes behind schedule.
