The Group 1-placed Sheer Miss holds the key to this evening's Wanganui Toyota C4 520m (Race 10) feature event at Hatrick Raceway.

The Lisa Ahern-prepared greyhound raced out of class when finishing second in Decembers $40,000 Spion Rose Cup.

In theory, contesting a straight C4 race should see her prevailing here.

Foxton conditioner Angela Turnwald is looking to deny Ahern that victory as she's lining up some handy chasers.

Fall From Grace was a recent Group 1 finalist at this venue and she has drawn to hop straight onto the early pace from where she can make things rather interesting.

Her Aussie import Docker produced an improved effort last Friday and securing the ace-trap to step from can see him making his presence felt.

Hawkesbury Fever is a chaser who is likely to ultimately finish up in the open class chasing ranks. Expect another competitive effort from him in this field.

The form line that Boston Heart brings into this event isn't overly flash.

He does own a powerful finish which can carry him into a stakes-bearing position.

Local trainer Heather Kite is looking to deprive the two major kennels a clean sweep of the stake on offer via her charge Making Time.

She also owns the ability to contest the early pace, while Opawa Shay can sneak into the minors for Marcie Flipp.

Tragic news was received over the weekend about the champion greyhound Little Mother being killed instantly in a Sydney car accident.

She was in a vehicle being driven by her carer Barbara Spackman, which was smashed into by a red light runner.

Little Mother dominated her rivals nation-wide during her outstanding racing career which saw her breaking the national stakes earning record.

Emma (kennel name) was retired with an amazing $377,751 tally listed beside her name.

She raced on 132 occasions, winning 85 of them and being placed another 27 times.

Little Mother taunted her rivals when racing at Hatrick.

She instantly identified herself as a very special greyhound when she won her debut 520m outing at Hatrick - clocking an exceptional 30.08s.

In total she raced at Hatrick on 50 occasions, winning 28 of those and being placed 16 times.

It was on April 30, 2010, when Little Mother shattered the Hatrick 520m track record when she returned a turbo charged 29.28s, which is a record that still stands today.

She was trained throughout her glittering career by Lisa Ahern.

Ahern's husband Brendon Cole said they were "shocked, totally devastated".

"We couldn't believe what we were told. She was a life changer, an absolute freak.

"We have raced and bred many, many good greyhounds - nothing in our kennels has even come close to Emma.

"Her longevity was amazing - nothing would faze her."
