The Wanganui representative men's bowls teams are set to defend their Arnott Shield and Duckett Trophy titles for the second year on end later this month, while the women are looking to step up a notch in their annual triangular tournament.

Despite ushering in several new players last year, the Wanganui men's representative teams retained the Arnott Shield and Duckett Trophy against Manawatu and Taranaki in the annual inter-centre tournaments.

In the men's section each centre fields two teams apiece, while the senior women do the same. The women's academy, however, has a new look with each centre fielding a team each with the hosts putting up an extra side to avoid a bye situation.
