Taihape students are racking up the miles in support of their school.
Today Taihape Area School students will lace up for the adidas School Fun Run. The run doubles as a fundraiser and students have been seeking support from the local community for taking part. Loni Martin from Taihape AreaSchool said the adidas School Fun Run presented an excellent platform to get students excited about physical activity.
"I'm proud to be involved in a programme that raises money for our school while delivering positive messages about the importance of physical activity to children's health, growth and development," she said.
National manager of The School Fundraising Group Ben Sinnamon said it was wonderful that an organisation like adidas was making this style of health-based school fundraising possible as this sector was traditionally dominated by unhealthy events like chocolate drives.
The comcept launched in 2013 as a "healthy alternative" fundraiser and participating schools raised over $1 million in extra funding.
