Pond and Morgan get senior honours

Marton's Allan Pond and Whanganui's Bob Morgan have been selected in the Central Districts team to play the second annual National Over 60's cricket tournament, starting next Sunday.

Pond played for CD in last year's inaugural tournament, which included winners Auckland, runnersup Wellington and Northern Districts.

This year, Canterbury and Otago are also sending teams to make it a true national tournament.

Pond was named in the NZ Over 60's team to play in the Australian festival in Canberra last summer.

This year, he will be one of three selectors to pick a national side to go to the festival in Perth.

Morgan is playing the national tournament for the first time, which runs from February 5-9.
