It was an excellent performance by Wanganui Collegiate's Jazmin Phillips to make the top ten of her 16-19 Female AG race at the ITU Aquathlon World Championships in Mexico, overnight on Wednesday.
Having prepared for the trip to Cozumel for the championships for the better part of a year, Phillipscame seventh in the run, swim and run event, finishing in 40m 29s.
Phillips cross the line just under four minutes behind the winner, Great Britain's Natasha Sinha, with four other Kiwi girls in the top ten in Aimee Elliott (second), Megan Greensmith (fourth), Charlotte Carter (sixth) and Natalie Mitchell (eighth).
Home country competitor Ivanna Cervantes-Richards was third.
The overall top 20 consisted of New Zealanders, Britons, Americans, Australians, Brazilians and one Mexican.
Phillips completed the first run in 10m 9s, then the swim in 16m 11s, followed by the final run home in 11m 44s, having taken just under a minute and a quarter in both her transitions.
Temperatures in Cozumel reached over 30 degrees during the event.
