WANGANUI Bowling Club stalwarts Ray Park and Dianne Patterson have been rewarded for their achievements both on and off-green at centre and club level.

Both were named Bowlers of the Year, at centre level, by Bowls Wanganui and male and female Person of the Year by their club, at the end of season festivities two weeks ago.

Park continued his outstanding career-long form, winning three centre titles to take his tally to an remarkabe 57. Last season Park claimed the centre Open Pairs, Open Triples and Champion of Champions Fours.

The talented bowler must be poised to extend his trophy cabinet space after winning a boot-load of cups, shields and trophies at club. interclub, centre and national level.

Patterson won the Alex Hird Cup for claiming the centre's Open Singles, the Dobie Shield for the Pairs titles and the Jessie Christie Plate for the Champion of Champions Singles. She also bagged titles at interclub level and was third in the Bowls New Zealand Club Championship Zone 4 Singles regional playoffs, and fourth in the Pairs.

At club level Patterson won gold in Singles, including the Champion and Senior trophies, and the Championship Fours.

The Person of the Year awards were in recognition of their hard work both on and off the greens for Wanganui Bowling Club.

A host of other bowlers - too many to mention individually - from clubs throughout the centre also excelled during the year and were recognised for their efforts at the end-of-season awards night on April 26.
