A sternly worded newsletter to Wanganui Squash Club members has highlighted issues surrounding the bar it shares with the Wanganui Tennis Club. Squash club president Richard Te Ngahue told members the committee was in the process of reviewing the operation of the bar after a number of incidents had thepotential to put the licence at risk.
Access to the bar had been reduced while the review took place, although it had always been the intention to limit access in January while the facility was upgraded.
He said what was required to man the bar would be looked at going forward.
Te Ngahue said in the newsletter the club had approximately 40 people who could access the bar, but not everyone followed the same rules - they were at risk of losing the licence.
The newsletter said bar access was removed to most members (including tennis) rather abruptly as a result of yet another incident whereby the bar privileges were abused. Te Ngahue did not elaborate and could not be contacted for comment.
