The Marton Samoan rugby team is all dressed up with somewhere to go.
The side will host round two of the annual Samoan Regional Rugby Tournament where the home team will play Hastings at Marton Park at 1.30pm while Horowhenua pits its skills against Manawatu at noon.
Marton Samoan teamsecretary Faiao Ieru said the tournament had been going for about seven or eight years now and Levin was the current titleholder.
Marton is already one up in the round robin competition after beating Manawatu last weekend.
Ieru said the Marton team would also be stepping out in a new strip bought and paid for by generous Rangitikei sponsors.
The new team uniform, extremely similar to the Wanganui Butcher's Apron strip, was sponsored by Rangitikei District Council who bought the jersey's for $1500, while the shorts were sponsored by Rangitikei Hire Bins and Leuma Aroma the team manager costing $750. Socks were sponsored by McGruers Ltd costing $300 and warm-up T-shirts and aftermatch T-shirts, water bottles and rugby balls were sponsored by Speirs Foods Ltd for about $500.
Round three will be played in Hastings on Saturday, October 10 and the final round in Palmerston North on October 17.
The team is hopeful heaps of locals will come and support the games throughout the afternoon.
