Eddie Marr thought his shot on the third at the Rangitikei Golf Club had hit the green and rolled past the hole, but he'd aced it, his mates assured him.
Marr shot a hole-in-one last week, the third ace of his career and his first away from his home course. The Castlecliff member hit a straight shot using his 8 iron on the 122m par 3.
"It was fairly well straight with a little bit of a fade on it," Marr said.
The shot landed a metre in front of the pin before disappearing out of sight, he said. "We couldn't believe it to start with. The ball landed and was running towards the hole but then it disappeared."
On closer inspection Marr found the ball in the hole. After the round it was back to the cossie club for a few celebratory beers.
