Twenty-two different towns and cities were represented amongst the top place getters in the 2015 3Bridges Marathon on Saturday.

While the overall number of 544 entries across the five divisions of walking and racing events was down on the previous two years, many guests from out of town made their annual pilgrimage to the 10.5km course across the Dublin, City, and Cobham Bridges.

As well as nearby Palmerston North, Levin, Hawera and New Plymouth, other competitors who made the top three of the walking and running grades came from places like Taupo, Wainuiomata, Napier, Wellington, Rotorua and Auckland.

There was also an international flavour as the 3/4 Marathon was won by Germany's Dirk Wehner.

One new record was made on the course as local walker Karyn Lewis completed the 3/4 Marathon Walk in four hours and 14 seconds, comfortably beating her own mark of 4h 10m 50s set back in 2013.
