The Manawatu-Wanganui team dropped out of contention for the semifinals of the Toro New Zealand Women's interprovincial at the Riverside Golf Club on Thursday.
Still a chance heading into the fifth round of the matchplay tournament, Manawatu-Wanganui lost to Bay of Plenty 3.5-1.5, with only Castlecliff's Amber-Rose Thompson-Newth keeping her
undefeated record intact with a win in the No 3 spot.
Needing to win their remaining match-ups while hoping other results went their way, Manawatu-Wanganui were held to a 2.5-2.5 draw with Hawkes Bay in the afternoon, which removed them from contention.
The top seeds Brydie Hodge and Emma Clayton won their games, while Thompson-Newth halved her game and the lower seeds were beaten to leave them trailing Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, and home team Waikato in Division 2 of the event.
Results: Round 5.
