Lachlan Hughes

Lachlan Hughes

Whanganui's Lachlan Hughes and Rangatira's Jeff Gatchell were not able to advance to the final knockout phase of the NZ Under 21 Golf Croquet Championships, being held at Palmerston North's Rose Gardens Club.

Of those who play regularly on the local scene, Hughes and Levin's Connell Leahy finished third in their sections of the Open Singles on Saturday, with the top two of each section advancing to the final eight for the playoffs.

Another Levin player in Declan Leahy did make it through by winning his section.
Gatchell had two wins from his five games.

Play continued yesterday with the knockout and plate events.
