Hunterville School went one place better than their rivals South Makirikiri in the 2015 edition of the Downs Group Rangitikei Tough Kid challenge on Friday.

Held again at the McIntyre Reserve in Ohingaiti, in a joint partnership between Sport Whanganui and Mangaweka School, up to 1000 children from around 25 schools tackled the 1.5km obstacle course.

Starting at 10am, the children competed in individual boy and girl groups, from Years 3-8, which was followed by the teams events in the afternoon.

When all the points from placings were accumulated, Hunterville was crowned toughest school, having come runnerup last year to South Makirikiri, who took that position this time around.

Once again, St Joseph's School Taihape was third overall. Hunterville children got Top 3 placings in five of the nine categories, including winning the Year 7-8 Teams race, with their collective effort being just ahead of South Makirikiri, who still got Top 3 in six categories.
