Tennis Wanganui will be hunting for their next generation of Christie Cup stars as the junior representative teams host their Manawatu counterparts at the Bassett St courts on Sunday.
Thirty-two players have been chosen to play from the Under 10-16 grades in singles and doubles games, with mixed doubles iftime allows.
Previously, the older teenagers who were also key players for the Wanganui senior team would also prop up the Under 16 squad.
However, just like the Christie Cup team having to deal with its young players such as Paige Hourigan and Kyle Butters leaving to go overseas or other parts of the country, so too the youth grades have lost the next tier from that incredible mix of talent who all came up through the grades at the same time.
Development officer Gene Ridgway said: "We're definitely into the next generation of players.
