It was the final run of a busy season for the Wanganui Harrier Club as 25-30 plucky competitors entered the Gavin Collins Memorial Half Marathon on Saturday.
Usually, the half marathon is held after Labour Weekend, however members had convinced the club committee to move the event earlier asthe season was felt to be too long already.
Unfortunately, this led to a clash with the McDonald's Mud Muster in Upokongaro.
Around 11 people entered the 8am walk leg of the half marathon, while 4-5 took part in the 10km race, with the rest entering the half marathon.
The course started at the Whanganui Multisport clubrooms and went down to the Dublin St Bridge, then along Somme Parade to the City Bridge.
After cutting out onto Taupo Quay, runners carried on to Heads Rd, then Bedford Ave, Balgownie Ave, before going on the riverbank walkway and following a return path.
Adam Holmes would take line honours for the half marathon, with Jason Daws getting the official win as a full club member.
Line honours in the walk went to Gai-Marie Smart, while Bill Charnock won the trophy on the handicap.
