By Jared Smith It will be the biggest entry field for the Wanganui RSA's annual 8-Ball Open tournament this weekend as convenor Dallas Rodgers will find a way to fit them all on the tables.
Last year's event, which coincided with the NZ Masters Games being in town, saw a record94 people want to play, which was capped at 70 to get through all the games.
This year, Rodgers has found a way for all 85 entrants to take part. "I don't ever turn anybody away, as much as possible," he said. "I've done the figures and we can push them through."
Tokoroa's defending champion Matt McInness will be back, as will Whanganui's Nick Hinga who was runnerup. But the big name to watch will be Wellington's Harry Haenga, the nine time New Zealand snooker champion. "He's travelled the world in snooker, got international caps," said Rodgers.
Games will be 9am to 5pm tomorrow and 9am to 7pm on Sunday.
