A strong evening of chasing at the Hatrick Raceway last Friday saw the Lisa Ahern kennels again break through the $1 million stakes-earning barrier for the current racing season.

The $1m has become the target each season for the kennel, which Ahern and her husband Brendon Cole have successfully attained now for a number of seasons.

Consistency has been the key to their operation, which has seen their greyhounds featuring at all levels of racing throughout the season.

It is that consistency that sees Ahern lining up five greyhounds for tonight's $8000 New Zealand Racing Series final over the 305m dash.

Six heats held last Friday saw the Palmerston North-based mentor holding the winner of four of them.

It was Allegro Class who returned the swiftest heat time, when he clocked 18.53 seconds.

Drawing the ace trap for the final says this son of Collision and Hifi Allegro can serve up a repeat dose.

Litter brother and kennelmate Allegro Master was the equal next fastest heat winner when clocking 17.58s and he has also drawn kindly in the two trap here.

Posting the same time was Sweet As Bro, also for Ahern.

Being allocated trap-five to step from says she must get underway smartly.

Smash Allegro was another kennel runner who scored a heat win which saw him stopping the timer in 17.68s.

Wearing the pink racing vest here sees this bloke being presented with swooping stakes-earning claims.

The remaining Ahern-trained sprinter here is Allegro Touch, whose finished a 1.5 length heat, second to the Bernie Mitchell's locally-trained All In Berlin, who clocked 17.60s for her win.

The remaining heat winner was Mega Jet, who returned 17.71s for his trainer Steve Maher.

However, consider for the minor portion of the stake the first reserve Call Me Ralph should he secure a start here, especially from a wide trap.

This Graham and Jen Clarke-trained sprinter owns a powerful finishing burst.
