Feature greyhound racing returns to Hatrick this evening where 520m heats for the Wanganui Derby and Wanganui Oaks will be contested.

A first four finish is required to earn the right to return for next Friday's $10,000 pair of finals.

First up will be the Derby heats with Race 4 being the first.

The northern James Black and Alisha Steele-trained Joe Joe secures the draw advantage with trap-one.

He can repeat his open class 520m win from last Friday.

Born To Boom endured a luckless New Zealand Cup race when he fell.

The Jason Dunn-prepared youngster can feature in this event, as can another New Zealand Cup finalist Cawbourne Crouch from Matt Roberts kennels.

Know Decision has a promising future in front of him for trainer Gary Cleeve. He has won both of his previous races around this circuit.

Adding intrigue here is the presence of the NZ debut runner Zipping Jock, who is now resident in the Lisa Ahern kennels. Mystic Action is a handy Dave and Jean Fahey prepared greyhound who must step smartly from-trap-eight.

Race five is the second Derby where NZ Cup runner-up Cawbourne Brick can gain deserved success for Roberts.

Kennel-mate Lonesome Nitro draws the two-trap which enhances his advancement claim, while Sedgebrook Magic is smart enough to push up along the rail from his ace-trap draw for local conditioner Freddy Kite.

Arctic Action stylishly won a feature 520m Addington race for the Fahey's last week and a repeat of that can see this bloke making his presence felt.

Cleeve is represented by two contenders in this heat with Know Mention and Know Hero and both are likely to be sighted doing their best work late.

The first Wanganui Oaks heat is Race 6 where the Ahern charge Winsome Jenny returns after her recent sound Addington assignments.

Opawa Val ran a bold Manawatu feature 457m second on Monday for the Fahey's.

Cawbourne Clover is a promising Roberts trained youngster who draws trap-one here, while kennel-mate Cawbourne Midget has to be considered.

The second Oaks heat (Race 7) sees the in-form Fahey mentored Opawa Shacklay lining up. She is in punishing current form.

Sheer Miss makes up for her lack of race experience with sheer pace for trainer Ahern.

Know Cheers can make her presence felt along the rail for Cleeve. Her kennel-mate Know Lapse can slip around the outer.

The northern Wayne and Tracey Steele trained Electric Impulse is another who owns early pace.
