The expendables from Feilding have an unassailable lead in the New Zealand Paintball Regional Series that ends in Wanganui next month.
The team cemented their claim on the title with yet another victory on the speedball course hosted by the Wanganui Paintball Club at the Kaierau Country Club yesterday.
OrganiserBen Androutsos said the speedball format of the war game differs from the traditional bushball version where natural obstacles provide cover. "The speedball version has portable obstacles we can transport from venue to venue and is becoming a very popular recreational activity. We have around 20 teams in this regional competition that has been running since March, although we only had eight today," Androutsos said.
"The Expendables won last month's tournament and again today and that gives them an unassailable lead for next month's finals here at the same venue."
Tempest Blast from Bay Of Plenty sit second in the competition, while Dysfunctional from New Plymouth are third. The best of the Wanganui teams is Pentakill in fourth spot.
"Next month will be the final, but in the meantime we have also been running a Wanganui Cup tournament in conjunction and the final of that will also be here next month. The Expendables also lead that competition."
