Date set for St John's and Marist one-day replay

January 17 has been set down for the one-day cricket final replay between Bayer Marist and St John's Technical.

The winner will have to back up the following day in taking on Taranaki champions Inglewood in an inter-provincial match.

The playoff got under way at Victoria Park on Saturday before rain halted play, with Marist having scored 256-8 from their 50 overs.

The back-up day on Sunday was also rained out.

Wanganui cricket development officer Dilan Raj said with players away over the holidays and Hawke Cup cricket being played on January 10, the 17th was the earliest date possible.

It will be played at the same venue on the Tasman Tanning No1 pitch.
