The Wanganui Collegiate 1st XI boys team went down in the final of the Central North Island Schools Quadrangular on Sunday afternoon to their Hawkes Bay rivals Lindisfarne College.
In a very competitive weekend of games on the School Foundation Hockey Turf, Collegiate had a 2-2 draw with Feilding HighSchool in the early morning Saturday matchup, before the rain had really set in by 3.30pm round robin match with Lindisfarne.
Conditions were dismal and Lindisfarne managed the only goal of the match.
Collegiate regrouped for their early Sunday morning game for a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Taranaki's Francis Douglas Memorial College, to set up the afternoon final with Lindisfarne.
In better weather, the Hastings team proved their class with a 6-1 victory to win the quadrangular.
