FALLS in the penultimate round did not prevent two Wanganui Collegiate students winning their weight classes at the National Minibike competition at Manfeild Park.
Engineering students Ipeleng Motsatsi and Luke Foster claimed the 62kg to 73kg and 73kg to 83kg weight classes respectively giving Collegiate two of the three majorprizes in the annual competition after several years of trying.
The competition revolves around students racing minibikes they had built themselves during the year from a kit at the INTRANZ workshops, a STAR course run at Collegiate through the YMCA.
Motsatsi and Foster won their finals despite both falling fromtheir air-cooled 49CC bikes in the round leading up to the finals.
The event included students from 16 schools and both students won against more than 40 rivals.
