It is a return to normality at Hatrick for the Wanganui club this evening after hosting recent Group 1 520m events.

The revelation over recent weeks is the emergence of the Hatrick 305m track record holder Allegro Gun as a genuine 520m chaser.

It is his sharp early pace that makes him a lethal on-the-pace greyhound.

The Lisa Cole-trained chaser used that healthy tactic when he stylishly won the recent $15,000 North Island Challenge Stakes at Group 2 level in Palmerston North.

He then returned to Hatrick to lead throughout when claiming his 30.11s 520m NZ Breeders' Stakes heat win.

Again, he adopted a pace making role in last Friday's $40,000 Group 1 decider and it took the proven staying greyhound Thrilling Flo to gather him during the run home.

He can be rewarded for his brave second placing then by leading his 520m rivals throughout in this evening's feature - The Rock 95.2FM open class 520m event (Race 10).

Understandably, the drawn field is completely dominated by Cole-trained greyhounds, with the locally Brian Goldsack-prepared Watch My Back being the only 'outside' chaser involved in the event.

He has shown sufficient to suggest he can deny the Cole team total occupation of the post race podium.

Speaking about Cole, her complete domination of last Friday's NZ Breeders' Stakes meeting undercard was quite amazing, as she trained a staggering nine winners during the evening.

Further success at two meetings since then saw her starting yesterday's racing with her season tally standing at an incredible 643 winners.

Combined, her kennel runners had amassed a phenomenal $1,296,251 in stake earnings.

You only need to take a glance at the perennial national trainers' premiership winner John McInerney to put Cole's success into context.

Again, starting yesterday's racing saw the McInerney season total of winners sitting at 493 ($938,095).

It is greyhounds of the calibre of Allegro Gun, which will ensure the wave of winners will continue to freely flow from the Lisa Cole kennels.
