Big Orange Wanganui City 1sts can thank their cross-town rivals for cancelling out a slip up against Red Sox Manawatu Rovers.
Having earned the Horizons Premiership lead three weeks ago and surviving a scare against Feilding last week, City fell to their first loss of the season at Wembley Parkon Saturday.
Coach Kelvin Francis had no sympathy for his side who he said "got what they deserved" in losing 3-2 to Red Sox.
That was before he knew GVCA Wanganui Athletic Reserves had just done them a huge favour in beating City's title rivals Hokowhitu FC 2-1 over in Palmerston North.
That means City's slip up won't alter the title race but it also won't change Francis' view of the game.
