It was a disappointing end to the national under 17 tournament for Central Districts and their Whanganui players, beaten by 83 runs against Auckland at Lincoln Oval on Saturday.
Having succumbed for 155 in their chase for 296 the day before against Otago, Central Districts had to picked themselves upagainst the Aucklanders, and after being put into the field they held them to 216-9 from 50 overs.
Whanganui's allrounder Akash Gill took 0-26 from his four overs, while Connor O'Leary was conservative with 0-20 from his six overs.
In reply, Gill again top scored for his team with 45, but the rest fell without getting set, finally being dismissed for 133 after 42 overs.
O'Leary was out quickly for no score as none of the last six batsmen reached double figures.
