It's back to normal racing this evening following last Friday's huge night of chasing action at Hatrick.

It was great night for young Marton trainer Matt Roberts, who produced Cawbourne Crouch to ruthlessly crush his rivals, as his charge ran away from them to deliver his effortless and slick 29.74s victory in the $40,000 Palamountains Nutrition Spion Rose Cup over 520m at Group 1 level.

It was an emphatic performance which left Roberts stunned, but also relieved.

Last year's Spion Rose Cup edition saw Cawbourne Crouch being beaten by the barest possible margin.

Cawbourne Crouch went on to run second to his kennelmate Cawbourne Brick at the Manawatu Raceway over 457m on Monday.

Cawbourne Brick returns to Hatrick this evening to contest the open class 520m Aon CPF C4/5 (Race 10, 9.13pm), where Roberts will line up three contenders.

Drawing closer to the rail has further strengthened the stakes earning claim that Cawbourne Brick holds.

He can contest the early pace and he also owns the strength to run it out strongly.

Cawbourne Clover is a greyhound on the up, as seen by her stylish 30.10s restricted age win in the Hatrick 520m last Friday.

Drawing the ace-trap here is likely to greatly assist her, even though she's giving away a slice of class to her rivals here.

Lonesome Nitro hasn't been picking the jump lately.

He is a capable chaser around here, however obviously he can't afford to use those slow starting tactics.

Lonesome Nitro delivered a bold three-length Manawatu third behind cawbourne Brick on Monday.

Lisa Ahern also has three runners engaged in this event.

She produced the experienced Check The Mail to win over 520m here last week when he raced from the unsuitable eight trap - for his racing style. Drawing the two trap here brings this noted railer right into contention.

Ritza Danny is a strong chaser, who is likely to press on stoutly at the business end, while kennelmate Marlisa is stepping up in race distance after her recent short course sprints.

Looking to split the Roberts/Ahern domination here is the Angela Turnwald-prepared Chasing The Line.

He must make a real smart jump from trap-eight here.

Sedgebrook Magic does own early pace for his veteran local trainer Freddy Kite

He led Cawbourne Clover for a long way before being claimed late by her last week.
