Marie Brennan was able to recall the logistics of her Hole in One at the Rangatira Golf Club last Wednesday very well.
A 12-year veteran who had followed her husband into the sport, incredibly it was Brennan's second ace on the 12th hole of the course - a Par 3of 129m from the ladies tee.
If a Hole in One is extremely rare in a club golfer's career, then two on the same hole is the stuff of local legend.
Like last time, Brennan used a 7-iron on the 12th, as her ace rescued an average round to finish even par in the Ladies Bisque Par competition.
"It was a terrible round. It was the only decent shot I had all day," she said yesterday.
"I saw the ball go in last time, but this time I was too busy talking.
"I knew it was a good shot. Unfortunately, we were gas bagging."
As a straight approach, Brennan said the ball must have hit the green and bounced about twice - she and her partners headed up to the flag thinking the shot would have rolled over the back somewhere, until someone made the tell-tale check of the hole.
The ace was in fact Brennan's third Hole in One as she also had a magic stroke during a round at the Foxton course a few years before.
Her name will now go up on the Honours Board at the club house, and people will likely wonder in years to come if it is a misprint given the two entries will be identical.
"I'm going to be up there twice," Brennan said.
"[I hear it from] these men, especially the ones that don't have any.
"Some people are tinnier than others."
It was the sixth recorded ace in the wider Whanganui region for 2016.
