Cemetery Circuit is Whanganui's Boxing Day tradition and while he was flat out yesterday with a cellphone that wouldn't stop vibrating in his pocket, Suzuki Series organiser Allan 'Flea' Willacy took a moment to show his gratitude for the public support.

Down on Taupo Quay supervising the construction of the orange barriers around the street racing course, Willacy said pre-ticket sales had been very strong, with the Super Stand tickets sold out, leaving general admission available on the day.

Once again, the strong international field of riders was the draw card, with the weather reported to be good for Monday.

"To have [Michael] Dunlop, the Isle TT champion, and the British world champion [Tim Reeves] here, is amazing," said Willacy.

The international interest to follow the event online through live streaming at the Cemetery Circuit website had also reached record levels.

"The Facebook page is hitting 70,000."

Willacy thanked also the local industry businesses who have given assistance to make the event what it is - such as Hookers who were using their trucks as barricades on the streets.

"We could never afford to do that, we didn't get charged for this."

As a reminder, spectators may bring their own alcohol into the event, however there is no glass allowed and the levels are restricted to a dozen cans of beer or six cans of RTD, with zero tolerance for more by security on the doors.

However, Willacy said in recent years the public have been more understanding of this, as in 2015 the staff only took away half a trailer of rubbish, compared to two trailers worth in previous events.

"People are starting to mello. They understand it's a family event."

In 2015, Willacy accepted the trophy for Best Established Regional Event at the NZ Association of Event Professionals awards, which recognised that Cemetery Circuit pours around $2m into the economy as Whanganui's most economically beneficial annual event.

Practice for the riders starts at 7.30am on Monday, with the live stream going up around 9am.

Racing will begin at 11am.

Prices for an adult general admission at $35, while a child aged 5-15 years is $5.

Race programmes are $5, and there will be a draw at the end of the day to win a Suzuki UK110 Scooter.
